How many African Americans are there in our diocese?

According to a 2014 report published by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) at Georgetown University, the territory that comprises the Catholic Diocese of Richmond has 43, 162 Black/African American Catholics and 3,200 American Indian/Native Alaskan Catholics. These figures include Catholics who may regularly attend Mass but are not affiliated (registered) at a parish. According to the 2016 Parish Annual Report, there are 5,931 African American’s registered in the parishes of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond.
