Ministry > Segura Educational Initiative for Children

Become a partner today in The Segura Initiative and make a difference in the lives of many deserving Latino children.  Please help the families who recognize the advantages of a Catholic school education, but cannot afford the tuition at a Catholic school because they are currently living at or below the poverty level.

We ask for your generous support in leading The Segura Initiative. For more information please call Gabriela Gonzalez-Landaeta at 804-291-7260.

Ways to Give:

If you would like to support the Segura initiative, this is done through the McMahon Parater Scholarship Foundation (MPSF).  Please refer to the MchMahon Parater Scholarship  Foundation  portion of this website for information on donating to MPSF and specifying Segura Initiative on your Letter of Intent.  Donors may be able to receive tax credits from the State of Virginia through their Education Improvement Scholarship Tax Credits program of 65% of their donation, in addition to federal and state tax deductions, for donors who itemize.  The minimum donation for individuals and businesses is $500 in order to receive tax credits; the maximum donation is $125,000 for individuals.  Their is no maximum donation for businesses.   Pre-authorization for donations is required through the State of Virginia; MPSF staff can explain this process to potential donors.

(Please also see the McMahon Parater Scholarship Foundation portion of this Diocesan website to learn about scholarships that assist qualified  students and their families with tuition costs at our schools and to see a list of those schools and their locations.    The McMahon Parater Scholarship Foundation works to ensure that all parents who seek a Catholic education for their children will not be denied such due to a lack of financial resources.  There are income thresholds set by the State of Virginia that families must meet in order to qualify for a scholarship.  That information is on the MPSF portion of this website as well. )
