The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart (downtown Richmond) seeks a full-time Facilities Director.
This individual is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, renovation, and the upkeep of the Cathedral’s buildings and grounds and for personally performing higher level maintenance functions. This includes but is not limited to the mechanical, plumbing, electrical, hydronic and energy systems. Significant physical effort is required. May need to transport items weighing up to 50 pounds. The Facilities Manager oversees care of the grounds including mowing, pruning, ice and snow removal. Other responsibilities include: monitor parking, coordinate with the Museum of Virginia Catholic History, support Cathedral events as appropriate, oversees building safety and security.
-High School Diploma
-Good communication skills (written and verbal)
-Management/supervisory experience (minimum 10 years)
-Project Management experience (minimum 5 years)
-Historic Facility/building management experience (5 years)
-Repair Maintenance skills: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, skills
-Working knowledge of Gardening techniques
-Basic IT experience (setting up wireless networks; must be able to trouble shoot a down network)
-Must be able to maintain professionalism in high stress situations
-Must be able to read blue prints and drawings
-Must be organized and able to maintain records
-Must be able to prioritize tasks
-Must have a working knowledge of OSHA guidelines for Building Health and Safety, and General Industry Construction
-Working knowledge of building systems and able to troubleshoot problems
-Basic Computer Skills
-CFM or PMP, degree in Civil Engineering, Facility Management, or Business Administration
-Journeyman Certification in one of the Trades (Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical)
-10 years historic building preservation/historic facility management.
