Catechists receive ongoing formation credit through direct training from their leader; participation in adult faith formation programs in the parish; and/or through participation in online training or webinars. Below are suggestions to assist parish leaders in providing access to ongoing formation to catechists:
Catechist study days done within the parish. Topics may include:
Discipline in the classroom
Accommodating learning styles or disabilities
Prayer methods; i.e. “Praying in Color,” contemplation, lectio divina
Incorporate the liturgical year; liturgical catechesis
Methods for catechetical instructions, multiple intelligences, small group dynamics, etc.
Video Series – can be watched alone or in a group

USCCB Leadership Institute, especially series on Prayer: The Faith Prayed.
Recording Ongoing Formation
Catechetical Leaders submit names of catechists who have completed three hours of ongoing formation to [email protected]. Please use full, legal name when identifying your catechists. A reminder to submit names will come when the parish Catechist Report is emailed.
