Saint Joseph Catholic School in Petersburg, Virginia, is seeking a JK-8 school counselor who is able to provide a nurturing and Christ-centered learning environment for the 2024-25 school year. 

Under the direction of the principal, the counselor:

• Will plan and provide for appropriate services for students 
• Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of all students 
• Monitor and evaluate student outcomes
• Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community
• Develop, select, and modify guidance lessons and materials to meet the needs of all students

The successful candidate: 

• Has experience in developing, implementing and managing school guidance programs, as well as working with students in individual, small group and classroom settings.
• Has knowledge and experience with counseling theories and skills, group dynamics, and small group processes 
• Has extensive knowledge of JK-8 child development 
• Has excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
