Part Time School Cafeteria Coordinator at Saint Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School (Hampton)

The School Cafeteria Coordinator is responsible for supporting an individual school food service operation in an organized and efficient manner, while also meeting state and diocesan food safety requirements.

The candidate should possess experience with small to medium cafeteria/kitchen food handling preparation and operations, monitoring daily cafeteria/dining area operations. Excellent oral and written communications, attention to detail, the ability to provide exceptional customer service to students, families, and staff rooted in Catholic values.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school; basic culinary/food handling certification preferred
  • Cafeteria operations experience: 3 or more years preferred.
  • Experience and proficiency in food service functions to include safe food service/ handling, sanitization functions in a school cafeteria small to medium sized kitchen and dining area facility.
  • Possesses an understanding of own physical limitations, training/certification limitations, and ability to coordinate daily cafeteria operations.
  • Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, customer service oriented.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and conscientious of surroundings.
  • Must be willing to comply with safety guidelines and protocols as prescribed by OSHA, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and/or the Catholic Diocese of Richmond for food handling and cafeteria operations.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Basic culinary/food handler certification
  • Capable of establishing safe work practices and food handling procedures
  • Follows guidelines in the monitoring, cleaning, and sanitization of cafeteria/dining area safety procedures required by OSHA, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and/or the Catholic Diocese of Richmond for food handling and cafeteria operations.
  • Ensures the proper storage/disposal of food and/or supplies.
  • Performs job activities in a timely and efficient manner
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect staff, students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Adheres to food safety/handling/personal hygiene requirements

Start Date: 2024-2025 School Year (August 15, 2024)

Salary: Hourly; (20-25 hrs./week)
