St. Pius X  Catholic School (Norfolk, VA) is seeking a part-time School Counselor for the 2024-2025 school year.

The role of our School Counselor is to support a nurturing and Christ-centered learning environment for students. This is a part  time 10-month position requiring 14 hours per week (two days a week, flexible) 7:30AM – 3:30PM, mid-August through mid-June).

Responsibilities:

• Counsel students individually and in small groups
• Conduct classroom guidance activities (e.g.—SEL, intrapersonal skills, soft skills)
• Refer students and their families to appropriate school personnel and community agencies.
• Assist and participate in communications for support services within school.
• Encourage teacher/parent communication and community involvement.
• Participate in professional development activities.
• Keep Administration appraised of any problems encountered.
• Perform related work as required.
• Maintain a strict level of confidentiality on all matters relating to St. Pius X & families within the established school operating procedures

Qualifications:

• Qualified candidates will possess a Virginia certification in school counseling.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal communication skills, detail oriented, skilled in preparing written reports.
• Professional demeanor, human relations skills, adaptability, and the ability to respond to multiple demands.
• Extensive knowledge of child development preferred.
• Basic computer skills required.
