Student Support Campus Minister at Saint Joseph Catholic School (Petersburg)

Saint Joseph Catholic School in Petersburg, VA is seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to serve as our Student Support Campus Minister.

This role is integral to our mission of providing holistic support to our students, helping them navigate their spiritual, emotional, and social development within the context of our Catholic faith.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Provide spiritual guidance and support to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable discussing their faith, concerns, and personal struggles.
  • Offer pastoral care and counseling to students experiencing personal or family challenges, working in conjunction with teachers and administrators as needed.
  • Engage parents and families in the spiritual life of the school through communication, events, and resources.
  • Stay current on best practices in campus ministry and Catholic education, participating in professional development opportunities as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, theology, religious studies, pastoral ministry, or a related field.
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a pastoral or educational setting.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education, including a deep understanding of Catholic doctrine and tradition.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion and empathy.
  • Willingness to collaborate as part of a team and support the overall mission of the school community.
