Resources to Support the RCIA Team

All RCIA team members should own their own book of the rites. Click Here to purchase.

Gathering information through an initial interview with the seeker is very helpful and important. Here is a form you can use (optional):

Determining if a seeker is a candidate for full initiation or full communion, or just completing their sacraments can sometimes be complicated. You may even find several faith scenarios present in one family seeking initiation. Reach out to our office for support as needed.

Catechetical materials to consider:
While a set “curriculum” is not recommended for those in RCIA, as they are in a process of conversion, not a program of knowledge acquisition, it is useful to have access to solid Catholic content for answering questions and sharing the faith and teachings of the Church during the catechumenate period, and to assist with Dismissals. Consider the following:

Faith, Life and Creed – A collection of resources for accompanying seekers that flow directly from the liturgy, meditation on Scripture, fellowship with the Christian community, and the proclamation of the Gospel through works of mercy and service.

The Catholic Way – the perfect balance between formation and information. Each session includes prayer, faith sharing, and reflection, as well as our rich Catholic history, tradition, and beliefs. It is shaped by the liturgical calendar and perfect for confirmation, adult enrichment, and RCIA.

Apprentices in Faith – Online resources to use liturgically, updated annually. For adults and youth. From RCL Benziger.

Confirming Adult Catholics: Five Sessions for Preparation and Reflection – by Mary Birmingham.

Catholic publishers that have many RCIA  and lectionary-based resources that may be helpful, especially when doing dismissals and leading prayer during sessions:  Liguori, Liturgical Press, Liturgy Training Publications, The Pastoral Center, and World Library Publications
